This might be one of the most unique and authentic instrumental album ever recorded – inspired by many of the influential rock bands from England and USA during 1954 – 1963! We are glad to release a very unique and authentic album inspired by many of the influential bands in Britain and USA from the period when rock and pop was “born” – both when it comes to the music, all the old original instruments, many vintage microphones and last but not least, the musical genius of the leader and creator Bert Dan Östlund (earlier known as East) He has composed and arranged all the music and plays all the guitars and keyboards. Besides bass and drums, there are also saxophones on six tracks, strings on two and vocals on two tracks. Continue reading “Dan & The Electros – It’s Never Too Late (2009) [Hi-Res SACD Rip]”

John Hiatt has often wavered back and forth between his instincts as a rocker and a more measured singer/songwriter bent, and after the rowdy guitar-fueled blues-rock of 2003’s Beneath This Gruff Exterior, it should come as no great surprise that Hiatt toned things down a bit for his next album, 2005’s Master of Disaster. Pat Metheny’s debut studio album is a good one, a trio date that finds him already laying down the distinctively cottony, slightly withdrawn tone and asymmetrical phrasing that would serve him well through most of the swerves in direction ahead. This release is Joao Gilberto stripped down nearly to his bare essentials — his voice, guitar and the extremely spare drumming of Sonny Carr — and he’s just as mesmerizing as he’s ever been on records. The whole record is about the rhythmic clashes and dovetailings of a singer and his guitar, pitched at extremely low levels of volume yet generating volumes of drive without seeming to breathe hard. After the musical uncertainty of Waterloo Lily, Caravan returned with their most inspired recording since In the Land of the Grey and Pink. The splendidly titled For Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night is several steps ahead in terms of fresh musical ideas that wholly incorporate the band’s trademark humor within the otherwise serious and challenging sonic structures. Two of the more dominant reasons for the change in Caravan’s sound were the return of keyboardist Dave Sinclair and the addition of violist Peter Geoffrey Richardson. It’s impossible to hear Jaco Pastorious’ debut album today as it sounded when it was first released in 1976. The opening track — his transcription for fretless electric bass of the bebop standard “Donna Lee” — was a manifesto of virtuosity; the next track, the funk-soul celebration “Come On, Come Over” was a poke in the eye to jazz snobs and a love letter to the R&B greats of the previous decade (two of whom, Sam & Dave, sing on that track); “Continuum” was a spacey, chorus-drenched look forward to the years he was about to spend playing with Weather Report. It took Jennifer Warnes five years to construct a follow-up to Famous Blue Raincoat, and she still wasn’t able to come up with a unifying concept as simple and workable as recording a set of songs by Leonard Cohen. She did find some excellent covers, including Todd Rundgren’s “Pretending To Care” and The Waterboys’ “The Whole Of The Moon,” that may have been new to her listeners, and she got a song from Donald Fagen (“Big Noise, New York”).
