Coming off such conceptual, theatrical, sleazy hard rock records as the massively successful School’s Out (1972) and Billion Dollar Babies (1973), the Alice Cooper group decided that their next release would be more along the lines of their earlier, more straightforward work (à la Love It to Death). While Muscle of Love was a gold-certified Top Ten success, it performed below expectations (their previous two albums peaked at number two and number one, respectively) and would unfortunately prove to be the original Alice Cooper band’s last studio album together. Digitally remastered edition of this 1981 release. Formed in 1979 by Ottawa-born Ron Chenier, singer/ guitarist, recruited players and began honing their chops doing small clubs in and around the Toronto area. Fleet Street was the band’s third album. “Double Or Nothing” again showcased Chenier’s talent for writing slick, guitar riffs, while “Thunder In Rock” was easily the year’s best tune on the radio waves. By all accounts, the somewhat unexpected 2014 King Crimson tour was a resounding success and Live at the Orpheum is the first offering for those who were unable to attend. The band had been reinvented with a combination of new and returning players and the set list consisted largely of tunes that hadn’t been performed live since the ’70s, if at all. The main wild card was the three-drummer front line, which easily could have turned into a mess, even without music as challenging as Crimson’s. Six CD book set celebrating the late, great Ken Hensley. Solo (CD1) focuses on gems from his first three solo albums, released by Bronze records between 1973 and 1981. A Glimpse of Glory (CD2) from 1990 explores Ken’s songwriting depth and his examination of faith. Running Blind (CD3) features mixture of songs of different styles. The Last Dance (CD4) features Tommy Lopez (drums), John Smithson (bass) and Ovidio Lopez (guitar) with some classic slide guitar from Ken on ‘Crying’. Always a prolific songwriter, on 2005’s Cold Autumn Sunday (CD5) Ken took time to record a number of songs from his back catalog.
