Live recordings from 1968 and 1970 have recently been discovered of Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac. Not much is known about the live recordings. Discovered unlabelled and by pure luck in the US, their era has been authenticated by experts of the bands blues origins. Fleetwood Mac has given their full approval for the release of these tapes. Climax Blues Band: The Albums 1973 – 1976 is the second collection of Climax Blues Band albums and features their work issued between 1973 and 1976, a period of commercial and concert success for the group which saw the release of the albums FM Live, Sense Of Direction, Stamp Album and Gold Plated. Formed in Stafford in 1968 by Colin Cooper, the band (originally known as the Climax Chicago Blues Band) recorded their first live album, FM Live, in New York City at the Academy of Music with a line-up of Colin Cooper (vocals, saxophones, harmonica), Pete Haycock (guitar, vocals), Derek Holt (bass, guitar, vocals) and John Cuffley (drums). The album was originally released as a single LP in the UK by Polydor Records, but issued as an entire performance by Sire Records in the USA. The version in this set is the original US double album running order (with the full version of ‘Goin’ to New York’). The Grateful Dead are proud to re-release their third studio album. The album features both of its official mixes, the 1969 original mix, and the 1971 remix on disc 1, which was overseen by Phil Lesh and Jerry Garcia. The original 1969 mix had been lost for decades before turning up in the early 2000s, and we’re thrilled to include it here on CD for the first time, along with its more well-known 1971 remix. The differences in the mixes at times are subtle and nuanced, and at others are glaring and dramatic, and it’s incredibly fun to contrast and compare.
