Celebrating a quarter century of Blackmore’s Night with the 25th Anniversary Re-Mixed Edition of the milestone debut album “Shadow Of The Moon” (1997). This album was not only Blackmore’s deliberate radical cut from his previous life as celebrated rockstar in Deep Purple and Rainbow; it was a ground-breaking statement of his artistic ideals: mainly acoustic music, influenced by the songs of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance with a touch of genius that made them sound contemporary. “The topic of the album is first and foremost about traveling…” says Dhafer. “After traveling to the fourcorners of the world, in search of new sounds, here I sing differently and use vocal effects that I grew upwith. Particularly the sound effect of megaphones for the call to prayer – hence the record title Street ofMinarets.” The rest of the guests took part in the magical journey too.Featuring musical guests such as Herbie Hancock, Marcus Miller, Dave Holland and more Continue reading “Dhafer Youssef – Street of Minarets (2023) [CD-Quality + Hi-Res] [Official Digital Release]”

Inspired by a general love of the tango, and more specifically the tango of Astor Piazzolla, on the part of Yo-Yo Ma, the Soul of the Tango album is a masterful work of the nuevo tango, played by Ma’s cello and many of Piazzolla’s former associates. Piazzolla’s old guitarists Sergio and Odair Assad even showed up to work on a pair of tracks arranged by Sergio: the Tango Suite (consisting of Andante and Allegro). Carrie Newcomer is a songwriter, recording artist, performer and educator. A friendly, un-dogmatic but at the same time deep spirituality is at the core of her artistry. She has been described as a “prairie mystic” by the Boston Globe and a person who “asks all the right questions” by Rolling Stone, and “She’s the kind of artist whose music makes you stop, think and then say, that is sooo true…” (The Dallas Morning News). All of this alone would be impressive, but it is Carrie’s deep and warm voice which ultimately dissolves any resistance and pulls you in, never to let you go. The singer/songwriter duo who bewitches us with the rule of three: their roots: Belgian, Greek and Australian, their music – akin to the Chinese symbol for listening which is made up of three symbols: head, ear and heart – holds delights for each. To the head: almost inevitable, given their international cultural background, that their art addresses the state of the world as a poetic whole.
