Blood, Sweat & Tears are no strangers to oldies radio but even so, they only have a handful singles in constant rotation: “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy,” “Spinning Wheel,” “And When I Die,” and maybe “Hi-De-Ho.” “You’re the One,” a Top 10 Adult Contemporary single from 1976, is rarely heard and that’s just one of many songs released on the A- and B-sides of singles released between 1968 and 1976, all of which are compiled on Real Gone’s 2014 double-disc set The Complete Columbia Singles. Danger Money is the second and final studio album by the progressive rock supergroup U.K., featuring John Wetton , Eddie Jobson and Terry Bozzio. It was released by E.G. Records / Polydor in March 1979. Early versions of “The Only Thing She Needs”, “Caesar’s Palace Blues” and “Carrying No Cross” (which had the opening chords to “Danger Money” in its intro) had been performed on tour throughout 1978 by the band’s original line-up with Bill Bruford and Allan Holdsworth. “Rendezvous 6:02” and “Nothing to Lose” were both edited for single release. Grand Funk Railroad’s 1969 debut is a wildly uneven affair. Although the exuberant energy and power-trio theatrics that would fuel their 1970s hits are in place, the group’s songwriting and arranging abilities are very much in their infancy. The biggest problems in terms of songwriting are the often-amateurish lyrics: “Anybody’s Answer” is a sincere but muddled attempt at a message song that expends a lot of energy without ever focusing on a particular target and “Heartbreaker” is a love lament that is content to trot out a series of well-worn heartbreak clichés.
