Perry Como - Juke Box Baby (2006)

These records are now heralded as the era’s classics: Kewpie Doll, Round And Round, Ko Ko Mo, Tina Marie, Hot Diggity, Catch A Falling Star, Magic Moments, Juke Box Baby, Glendora, Dancin’, and Just Born To Be Your Baby. Those songs featured the era’s top songwriters like Burt Bacharach, Leiber & Stoller, and Luther Dixon. Continue reading “Perry Como – Juke Box Baby (2006)”

Albert King With Stevie Ray Vaughan - In Session (1999) [2009, Remastered, CD + DVD]

Recorded in December 1983, In Session captures an in-concert jam between Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughan, the latter of whom had become the hot blues guitarist of the year thanks to his debut Texas Flood, as well as his work on David Bowie’s hit Let’s Dance. Vaughan may have been the new news, but King was not suffering, either. He had a world-class supporting band and was playing as well as he ever had. This after-the-fact compilation from one of the last hard rock bands to make any sort of impression before the alt-rock revolution made most of it meaningless does its job, limited as it is, fairly well.
