Reading interviews with members of the late-’70s hard rock-meets-new wave group the Babys, one might think their short career was a failure. To a man, they feel like they didn’t get the breaks or the push that they needed to build a long and lucrative run at the top of the charts. Although it probably wasn’t meant as such, this self-titled album is Emitt Rhodes’ definitive statement. Soon after disbanding the Merry-Go-Round (of “Live” fame), Rhodes scored a solo deal with Dunhill.
